On the occasion of the evacuation in the “Danni”, the police published the following report: “During the evacuation, a bucket of feces from a tree house was pushed onto a lifting platform.” This message was laconically commented on in a WhatsApp chat of the motorway opponents with “Do the bigger buckets?” And I wonder if he’s wrong. I would never have dreamed of this a year ago, but the experiences of the last few months have made me rethink. “The police, your friend and helper” is no longer there, too much has happened in the meantime, and too often we, the “bourgeois” among the motorway opponents (not to mention the activists themselves), have arbitrary police force and harassment experienced my own body. Would you like some examples from the past few days?
The police consistently disregard the right of assembly. Congregation leaders were prevented in many cases from getting through to the vigils where they should have presided over the congregation. The offer to reach the vigil on foot over several kilometers with lots of luggage is de facto equivalent to an entry ban.
The federal police deployed in Dannenrod parked the sidewalks at the village community center completely so that pedestrians had to use the lane. When asked about this, the information was given that one knew that one was not allowed to do this, but would do it anyway. You don’t have to stick to the rules. When the barrio “Over there” was cleared, numerous bicycles (along with other materials) were confiscated by the police. The bicycles would only be returned to the owners on presentation of purchase deeds, otherwise they would be disposed of. Knowing that bicycles were often donated to the activists by the local population or passed on among the activists – isn’t the confiscation actually legitimated theft? I add that in the past few days, contrary to the express assurance of the police, trees were felled. And that one of the activists, who according to an official report from the police station was only slightly injured, was driven to the hospital with an emergency doctor? The list goes on. I learned from it: do not trust the statements of the police. Individual cases and not characteristic of the police as a whole? Whoever wants to believe that; the reputation of the police in the region has been permanently damaged. And yet: on the downward scale of reputation, the police are still high above most politicians.
