Kassel – Usually cars are not made for going down stairs. On Wednesday (December 28) at Friedrichsplatz, a police officer found out that this also applies to patrol cars, as reported by hna.de. His vehicle got stuck on the steps leading from Friedrichsplatz to Steinweg. What was going on there?
One photo shows a patrol car, the front of which has already landed on the pavement of Steinweg, while the rear is still on Friedrichsplatz – four steps up between them. These steps can’t even be described as royal ladders. For a Mercedes station wagon, on the other hand, there is a rather unfavorable parking position.

“Harleshausen-Benni (12) thought he was playing GTA and got into the police car for a moment,” he says Kassel Memes Instagram account, from where the photo of the downtown patrol car went viral. On the Instagram account, among other strange occurrences Cassel collected, which users send to you. “Harleshausen-Benni” could be translated from the juvenile language as a child from a wealthy suburban family. In the computer game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) you can drive your vehicle through different game worlds.
In the case of Kassel, however, it was not an uninformed driver who thought he was in a computer game, but a police officer who apparently noticed the passages too late or not during a patrol, confirms police spokesman Matthias Mänz. Luckily, as the vehicle was traveling at a crawl, nothing happened to anyone. Even the patrol car was only slightly damaged and the officers were able to free themselves from the unpleasant situation.
Since everyone is fine, one can look back on the accident with a slight wink, says Mänz. He too has received the photo multiple times since Wednesday afternoon. The colleague will probably have to contend with one or the other saying not only from the group of colleagues. But he too will probably be able to smile at us sooner or later. (Kathrin Mayer)
