After a clash with a young driver, this police officer, then stationed near Marseille, settled amicably with the young man’s father, a bodybuilder and mechanic by profession.
A few weeks after the events, the police officer and his accomplice attempted an insurance scam. The policeman declared a collision on his car to his insurer, invoice from the mechanic in support. An inflated bill of 200 euros. A sum that ended up in the pocket of the policeman.
A small sum that ultimately cost him much more. Because yes, with its wiretapping in 2019, this case did not go unnoticed. However, the commissioner of the IGPN in charge of the investigation presented this offense as “an isolated error deserving a simple reminder of the law”.
Finally, a fine of 500 euros was imposed on the 42-year-old policeman while his friend, now retired, received a suspended fine of 500 euros.
It wasn’t worth it
At their hearing three years later, the two men immediately admitted their mistake. This was an unfortunate attempt to scam insurance for only 200 euros. Luckily, nothing was withheld from their criminal records. Only fines were imposed.
