Announcing that this morning the police officer who murdered the normal student Yanqui Kothan in Guerrero was arrested, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador warned that the state has a “charged and rarefied environment” in which “there are many interests that are acting in that region and not everyone has the intention of there being justice.”

In his morning conference at the National Palace, López Obrador reported that the police officer involved in the Yanqui Kothan murder “was in a guarded and protected ranch – the investigation is being carried out – near Acapulco.”

Yanqui Kothan Gómez Peralta, 23 years old, a student at the “Raúl Isidro Burgos” normal school in Ayotzinapa, lost his life on March 7 due to gunfire from the Guerrero State Police, at a checkpoint, near the Indeco neighborhood.

López Obrador said that “unlike what happened before, where there was impunity, if you remember when these events were made known, the first report was that the boys had shot and in response the Guerrero police had murdered the young man. Ayotzinapa and that they even had weapons and drugs. And we did not accept that first report and it was investigated and the truth was reached, because it is no longer the same as before, we are not the same. “This police officer who murdered the young student from Ayotzinapa has already been arrested.”

In parallel, the federal president indicated that investigations continue to find the whereabouts of the 43 normal students who disappeared from the Ayotzinapa Normal School in 2014 and reiterated that he plans to meet with the parents of the students after the electoral process on December 2. June.

“I’m waiting for this, but we are working and we are going to talk to the parents,” he promised.

Meanwhile, he called on the population of Guerrero, the rural normalistas and their families to “not fall into manipulations.”

“I want to take this opportunity to make a call to the people of Guerrero, especially those who live very close to Chilpancingo, I am thinking of Tixtla, in Chilapa, in that entire region and also in the Ayotzinapa Normal School: there are many interests that are acting in that region and not everyone has the goal of there being justice, not everyone seeks to ensure that there is justice, that there is no repression, there are other interests, groups of the so-called civil society participate there, self-defense groups, political organizations have interference there Many corrupt politicians who have been close to the prosecutor’s office and the Secretary of Public Security of Guerrero also participate there, and organized crime groups also participate there,” he warned.

“What I want is for the people of Guerrero, of Chilpancingo, and they know it, to help us, as always, with the people everything, without the people, nothing; “To help us so that we can do convincing work, to guide us against manipulation,” he expressed.

“Also a call to the parents of the boys who study in Ayotzinapa, to the mothers, to the relatives, to be attentive, and to the young people, because being young and not being a revolutionary is a contradiction, and it is very good that there is rebellion and “We fight with justice, but without allowing ourselves to be manipulated, because in one of those, instead of making the revolution, we make the counter-revolution.”

In a brief statement, the government of the state of Guerrero reported that the arrest of David “N” was achieved with the joint work of the Ministerial Investigative Police (PIM) of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Guerrero, in coordination with elements of the Secretariat of the National Defense (Sedena), National Guard and State Public Security Secretariat.

After being detained, “investigative elements of the FGR went to the facilities of the Acapulco Regional Prosecutor’s Office where they notified him that he had a current judicial order against him issued by a criminal judge.”

With this arrest “the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Guerrero reaffirms its commitment to work inter-institutionally with authorities from the three levels of government to guarantee the administration of justice and recover social peace in the state,” the statement concluded.
