The city councilor, who does not wish to comment on the prosecutor’s press release, thus sends a message to politicians and the media: “I want to remind you very firmly that the public debate, with the approach of the next presidential and legislative deadlines, does not deserve such a caricature of our cities and our inhabitants. I also ask for a right of reply to the media who despised and smeared Sevran.“
And to add:The candidates must absolutely remain measured and respect the functioning of our judicial institutions until the course of the future trial. The credibility of public speaking depends on it.“
The facts date back to Saturday, at midday. While members of the anti-crime brigade of Aulnay-sous-Bois wanted to control a van reported stolen, “a policeman came up to the driver’s window and, in circumstances to be determined, fired his weapon – a single shot – as the van sped off“, according to Eric Mathais.
According to residents, the driver, named Jean-Paul, was an independent delivery driver who worked with a parcel delivery service provider, from whom he had stolen the van due to a financial dispute.
The victim, seriously injured in the left shoulder blade, died at the end of the afternoon in hospital. The autopsy confirmed that the shooting was the cause of his death. The death of this Beaudottes resident has led to great tension in Sevran, Aulnay-sous-Bois and Tremblay-en-France.
For their part, the lawyers Me Steeve Ruben, Me Philippe-Henry Honegger and Me Arié Alimi, who represent the family of the victim, announced that they had filed a complaint with civil action for murder. According to Me Steeve Ruben, the 33-year-old man – sentenced for acts of “vol et recel“- had recently completed personal assistance training in Canada. He was raising four children with his partner. The lawyer launched an appeal to collect images and testimonies of the facts.
