Florida authorities are investigating the discovery of a body that was seen floating in the southwest canal of Miami-Dade County. The macabre discovery was made this Monday, March 4, around 10:30 am

Miami-Dade police arrived at the scene and recovered the body, beginning the necessary investigations to determine the cause of death and how it got to the canal.

Images captured by Sky 10 showed authorities at the scene, after they delimited the area with yellow tape.

For now, it is unknown if this is an accident or a potential crime, but it is likely that authorities will report these details at a press conference.

It is important to note that this is the second body that authorities have located in the county’s waters in less than a week, since another body was spotted on February 28 in the Miami River.

It was learned that the body was that of a 35-year-old man who had fallen overboard of a boat the previous Saturday.

Police arrived at the scene near the 300 block of Northwest Second Street around 10:15 a.m., along with city fire rescue personnel, who recovered the body.

The man was identified as Abraham Mgowano, who fell overboard from a boat four days before his remains were recovered, around 2:30 p.m.

Mgowano was traveling as a passenger on a rented boat, along with 12 other people, who informed authorities about the incident.

After his fall was reported, a group of divers began searching the area that same day, as well as personnel from the US Coast Guard (USCG), but the search efforts were suspended at night. of the same Saturday.

According to Miami-Dade police, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was in charge of the investigation into Mgowano’s death.
