Now the mother accuses the soccer star of assaulting the minor and the Merseyside County Police have decided to open an investigation into the matter to clarify what happened. “As the players were leaving the field at 2:30 p.m., it was reported that a child was assaulted by one of the visiting team members as they were leaving the field. Investigations are ongoing and officers are currently working with Everton Football Club to review CCTV footage and are conducting extensive investigations among witnesses to establish whether a crime has been committed,” a spokesperson said.
As a result of what happened, the NGO Save the children, one of the most important in the protection of children, has made the decision to distance itself from Ronaldo, through a statement revealed by the British newspaper The Sun. In the letter, the non-profit organization makes it clear that it has not worked with the footballer “since July 2018”, after three years of collaboration, and that “he is no longer an ambassador”.
