The police had to take action after this

On Long Island in the USA, a man in his 20s was stopped by the police on Wednesday night.

The man was driving in a High-occupancy vehicle lane (HOV), on a Norwegian joint use field, when he was waved to the side, writes New York Post.

Such fields are a measure to increase the capacity for passenger transport during rush hour.

In both Norway and the USA, at least two passengers are required in the car to use this solution. For the 20-year-old on Long Island, there was only one problem; the white figure next to the man was a mask, strapped to the headrest on the passenger seat.

The creative solution did not last, and the police have opened a case for violations of the common field rules, according to the newspaper.

Attempts to avoid the regulations, and make it appear as if the car has a passenger, have also been used in carpools in Norway in the past.
