The police filed an appeal against the acquittal in the Osterøy – NRK Vestland case

In doubt it was the friend acquitted of manslaughter by Lena Maria Aase (18) died in a car accident last August.

The friend (19) was driving at over 100km / h in zone 60 in Osterøy when the accident occurred.

Now The police appeal for acquittal.

– The police believe that the district court made a wrong assessment by acquitting, that the assessment was too lenient.

State Attorney Asbjørn Onarheim told NRK.

It is the Court of Appeal that must assess whether or not the appeal is admitted to examination. When the decision is made is uncertain, says Onarheim.

Was BT who first reported the case.

The friend’s defender: – Disappointing

His friend’s defender, Kjetil Ottesen, spoke to his client about the appeal.

– He thinks it’s terrible not being able to finish this case, he says.

Ottesen believes that the district court’s judgment was complete and that it is the correct law underlying the judgment.

– It is disappointing that the police are appealing the decision, especially since it is an extra burden for a young person to go through a new round of prosecution, Ottesen says.

DISAPPOINTED: Friend’s advocate, Kjetil Ottesen, thinks it’s disappointing that the police are appealing the case.
