Around 20 minutes after 21:00, buses with gendarmerie with helmets and shields started arriving in the besieged Roma neighborhood in the capital’s “Orlandovtsi” district.
Groups from the local Bulgarian community tried to break into the neighborhood, but were stopped by the police. In one of the attempts, a partial penetration was achieved, but then the attackers were taken out.
A huge police force continues to guard the Roma from the outburst of anger of the residents of the neighborhood, who have been joined by other people.
According to a senior police official, “police have prevented a serious collision in a local park”. Gypsies and protesters threw stones and cobblestones at each other. No information about arrests. There were several minor injuries, in one of the incidents a child was injured.
