The Poles’ Journey Home from the Faroe Islands: Weather Conditions and Qualifier Updates

The Poles did not land at the Warsaw airport until Saturday at 2:30 p.m. It is common for teams to fly in from interstate matches the night after the match. But not from the Faroe Islands, where traveling from a small airport with limited traffic is complicated.

The Red and Whites were originally supposed to return on Friday evening, but due to difficult weather conditions, mainly very strong wind and rain, the flight from Vagar was postponed to Saturday. It’s not often in the qualifiers that a team comes back two days after a match.

In addition, the conditions were not optimal even on Saturday, but in the end the Polish team went home before noon.

Shortly before that, the Faroe Islands team went in a similar direction, which will play against the Czech Republic in Pilsen on Sunday (18.00). Moldovans are waiting for the Poles on the same day (20.45).

Due to the postponement of the return, the Saturday program of the new coach Michal Probierz’s team has changed. The press conference and the evening training in Warsaw before the match at the National Stadium will be delayed by more than two hours.

After the win in Thorshavn and the simultaneous defeat of the Czechs in Tirana against the Albanians 0:3, the Poles advanced to second place in the group E table, and wins in the remaining two matches (after Moldova and against the Czechs in November in Warsaw) will ensure them direct progress to the final tournament of the EC to Germany.
