The Pokémon Company Collaborates with Van Gogh Museum for Unique Project

The Pokémon Company has announced its collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands, which will begin at the end of September.

In the announcement trailer, a Pikachu and an Eevee run through a field of sunflowers, with windmills spinning on a series of rolling hills in the background. A drop of blue paint falls on Pikachu’s head and the sky transforms into the post-impressionist swirls for which the Dutch artist is famous. Find out below:

The sunflowers turn into Sunflora, a grass-type Pokémon first seen in Generation 2, and then a version from Van Gogh’s Sunflowers series appears with the Pokémon at the center.

It is not known what the collaboration will contain, although one possibility is that it will be added to the Meet Vincent Van Gogh Experience, the award-winning traveling exhibition.

It is an interactive installation that presents Van Gogh’s most emblematic works, as well as the opportunity for the little ones to make their own drawings inspired by what they have seen.

There is also an audio guide adapted to two levels of literacy to accompany the exhibition, and sets that reproduce scenes from his paintings The Bedroom and Haystacks in Provence.

The Pokémon Company has said that “more information” will be coming in the future and that the collaboration will be active starting September 28.

It was recently announced that Honolulu, Hawaii, would host the 2024 Pokémon World Championships. However, it was a decision that divided fans; Some were enthusiastic about the choice, while others considered it insensitive, as the state continues to struggle with tourism.

In other video game news, the creator of the Fables comic universe has shared that The Wolf Among Us was not aligned with his vision of its characters and world. This is due to his intention to place the property in the public domain.
