The points of the license are regained at a gold price

To avoid losing their license, more than 300,000 drivers each year participate in a points recovery course. Two days of training and awareness to road safety with, as a result, four precious points added to the counter. After a speeding ticket, Eric had registered for one of these training courses, then invoiced 195 €. But that was before the crisis.

His internship scheduled for March was postponed to June, but to participate, he had to pay a supplement: I received an email asking me to pay € 100, because the price of the course had risen to € 295. I was green .

Twice as expensive

This price increase is national and is confirmed by browsing the reservation sites, such as PermisàPoints.fr, leader in the field: internships, invoiced at 160 € on average in normal times, are now close to 300 €.

Franck Genser, manager of the platform, justifies the phenomenon by the additional costs linked to compliance with sanitary measures: With the respect of 4 m² per person, approved centers only accommodate ten drivers per course, instead of twenty in normal times. As the cost of training is shared among the drivers, the price is doubled, it’s mechanical.

Temporary additional cost

But not all centers apply this additional cost. For example, Centaure Bretagne, near Rennes, kept its price of 199 € despite the health protocol: It is not in our policy to take advantage of this type of situation , explains a manager.

Because if the content of the points recovery courses is supervised by the Ministry of the Interior, the pricing policy is free. Franck Genser specifies that prices will return to normal as soon as the health restrictions are lifted.
