On Saturday, January 28, Olivia Ruiz accompanied her grandmother to her “last home”. The singer posted a photo to pay tribute to “Purification Ruiz-Monpean, now Rita Blanc”. In a long message filled with emotion, she tells how “on January 28, 1939, you climbed on the last train from Girona before the French border was closed to trains from Spain. You were six years old.
The singer was accompanied by her family, including her six cousins, for this last tribute to their “abuela”, so mysterious but so “extra”, who taught them to “love life”. Olivia Ruiz hopes that death will allow her grandmother to “find peace”, because she deserves it “so much”.

This poignant tribute received many reactions from her fans, and that of Mathias Malzieu, with whom she was in a relationship from 2005 to 2011. “Tender thoughts filled with sweet and funny memories for Grandma Rita and all of you”, said he wrote in the comments.
Olivia Ruiz, who had devoted herself to writing – her last novel “Listen to the rain falling” was released in 2022 – announced her return to music on January 6. His next album is in preparation and will be released on a new record company.
