The Poco X5 and X5 Pro models have been officially announced, which will add to Xiaomi’s mid-range offerings. The devices came with a screen with a high image refresh rate, a 108 megapixel primary camera in the case of the Pro model and, of course, a friendly price.
Poco X5 Pro
Compared to its predecessor, several improvements can be seen in the device, these affect the screen and the hardware inside the phone, let’s see the details! The smartphone is thinner than its predecessor, only 7.9 millimeters, so we are dealing with the slimmest X-series mobile so far.
The biggest improvement is the Snapdragon 778G chipset inside the phone, which is a 6-nanometer construction complete with Adreno 642L graphics accelerator. This time, the chipset comes with double the internal storage space, i.e. 128 GB instead of 64, the minimum, while the operational memory is still 6 GB, but there is also an 8/256 GB version. These are LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 modules. The Poco X5 Pro runs the Android 12 operating system, complemented by the MIUI 14 for Poco user interface.
The display is 6.67 inches, the technology used is AMOLED, and the resolution is 2400 x 1080 pixels. The touch sensitivity of the panel is 240, and the image refresh rate is 120 Hz. The display is 10-bit, displays 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color range, and the maximum brightness can be up to 900 nits. Regarding the screen, the 1920 Hz PWM dimming and the Gorilla Glass 5 coating protecting against scratches are also worth mentioning.
On the back of the device there is a 108-megapixel primary image recording module, the 1/1.52-inch construction is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree viewing angle, and a 2-megapixel macro unit. The resolution of the front camera is 16 megapixels. The Poco X5 Pro can now record video in 4K resolution. Thanks to the more advanced processor, photography in general is 69 percent faster, and night shots are 38 percent faster.
The new chipset also enables new data connection options, including Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and the fact that the phone has not missed a headphone output and, in some regions, even NFC you get it, and of course there’s the infrared port.
A battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh was installed inside the device, which is compatible with 67-watt cable fast charging. The lost energy is replaced via a USB-C connector. The Poco X5 Pro comes in blue, black and the brand’s trademark yellow.

Inside the basic model, the Snapdragon 695 chipset still performs the calculations, but the storage space in this device is now doubled, meaning it cannot be less than 128 GB. Like the Pro model, it will also be available in an 8/256 GB version, and the storage can also be expanded up to 1 TB. In terms of the software environment, you have to make do with an earlier version, because the mobile runs MIUI 13 for Poco.
The smartphone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, also with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, but this time we have to make do with an 8-bit panel and Gorilla Glass 3. In return, we can be compensated by the maximum brightness, which reaches 1200 nits.
On the back of the Poco X5, there is a 48-megapixel primary image capture module, which is supported by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor that detects the environment at 118 degrees, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The resolution of the selfie camera is 13 megapixels.
The manufacturer entrusted the power supply to a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33-watt fast charging. It is definitely good news that the necessary adapter will be in the smartphone box, with which the completely discharged device can be charged to 100 percent in 68 minutes.
As communication options, the Poco X5 offers Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC standards (in certain regions), there is also a headphone output and an infrared port. The smartphone comes in dark blue, light blue and green shades.
The prices of the new products may differ by region, but basically the Poco X5 in the 6/128 GB package can be had for 250 euros, and the Pro version starts at 300 euros.
