Wow! That was my first reaction. I didn’t think PlayStation would stuff the Showcase so full with games. I’m most looking forward to the Knights of the Old Republic remake. That game has a special place in my heart for me and it has been so long since a Remake can really make something beautiful out of it. The only thing I wonder is if developer Aspyre Media can handle this… Then God of War: Ragnarok. This game can hardly go wrong, even if it has been given a different director than Cory Barlog. The trailer was mostly hinting and I didn’t think it was very strong per se, but this is going to be one hell of a game, isn’t it! Very excited!

And then Wolverine! Holy shit how fat! I’m not really a big Marvel fan, but I think Wolverine is my favorite Marvel hero, so human, flawed and so awesome! And Insomniac is a hit machine, so if there’s one studio I can trust, it’s that studio. Dan Tchia, the Showcase also needed this trailer, because it was all very dark. What a wonderful vibe this game exudes! I’m a bit afraid of slight disappointment (Ryme anyone?), but for now I’m really looking forward to this.
And not only that, I also got excited about Forspoken, Spider-Man 2 and Gran Turismo 7! However, I am left with a slightly bitter aftertaste. They can hype at Sony, but it all takes a long time before we can play the real bangers. Before everything is playable from this Showcase, it will be 2025. But you shouldn’t dwell too long on that either, sourpuss!

I’m a simple man and when you come up with an announcement for a Wolverine game, I’m all over it if it’s made by Insomniac. We’ve all seen what they’ve done to Spider-Man, of course, so I literally can’t wait for 2025…probably. Speaking of Insomniac, our Ron said it on Twitter: surely more people now work at Insomniac than live in Belgium, because the amount of titles that come from there is not normal.
Forspoken also didn’t bother me at all at first, but now that I’ve seen more of it, that title is now also on the radar, because when I saw who is working on this title, it does promise something. That writing team alone is impressive, with Gary Whitta and Amy Hennig. Now I could name a few more games on this, but I thought it was a solid Showcase, with nice games that I look forward to and that’s good.

Yes, what can I say. What a blast of a presentation! The absolute highlight for me was without a doubt Insomniac’s Wolverine game. Since when is it normal for the same studio to steal the show with two games? I mean; Spider-Man 2 with Peter, Miles AND Eddie? Stop with me. Furthermore, Square Enix has shown with Forspoken that they don’t make jokes, which looked nice.

Oh, and that PlayStation 5 upgrade for Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy may be here too. Should I hurry up with the other platinums? The last game I want to mention is Tchia, I will keep a close eye on it in the near future. What an atmospheric game, now I hope it can live up to my expectations.

The PlayStation Showcase at the same time fulfilled all expectations and was a bit of a downer. Pretty much most of the games I expected to see were featured, including Spider-Man 2, Forspoken and of course God of War: Ragnarok.
And yet… still it didn’t make me very warm. I missed one or a few titles from Sony itself during the presentation that really did something completely new. It felt a little like uniformity now. In addition, a number of games have been announced that will not be released before 2023, announced with a logo. We don’t have much use for that at the moment.
But let me not be too negative, I do feel like playing God of War: Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 again. Especially that one scene in the trailer of Ragnarok in which Kratos and his son sail through a village, immediately tickled my imagination!

The PlayStation Showcase was okay, but was it really fireworks? Actually the only thing that really blew me away was God of War Ragnarok, that game looks insanely fat, holy shit! I also found Project Eve interesting, which seems to be a bit of a combo between Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy. Forspoken was cool, as was Gran Turismo 7 and Spidey 2, although the latter was really a teaser. And well, Wolverine can get fat, but I really need to see more of that to get hyped.
It was an okay presentation, but secretly I had hoped for something more. I was hoping for one hit after another and clearly that was not the case. I especially didn’t find the beginning of the Showcase that exciting, but yeah, the new Kratos adventure makes up for a lot!
