This week, Viesturs Kairītis’ production “Smiļģis” will premiere at the Daile Theater, and actress Lilita Ozoliņa and pianist Reinis Zariņš will meet on stage today in the concert cycle “Dailes Kanons”, the representatives of the Daile Theater inform.
On August 24 and 25, the Daile Garden stage will belong to actress Lilita Ozoliņa and pianist Reinis Zariņš, whose work will be permeated by Montas Kromas poetry. Monta Kroma is considered to be one of the brightest modernists in Latvian poetry. In addition to reflections on human life in the urban world, the poet in her works also tries to explore the inner world of women and the creative process.

“Dailes Kanons” is a series of seven concerts created as part of the theater’s centenary celebrations, inviting spectators to the Dailes Garden to delve into the world of poetry and art, accompanied by pianists, centered on the main value of Dailes Canon – outstanding Dailes Theater actors.
Actress Rēzija Kalniņa and pianist Vestards Šimkus, actress Lidija Pupure and pianist Agnese Egliņa will meet the audience on separate evenings in the continuation of the “Dailes Kanons” concert cycle. The concert cycle will be concluded by actresses Ausma Kantāne, Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa and composer, Maestro Raimonds Pauls.
On Friday, August 27, the theater has a long-awaited premiere – the production of Māra Zālīte’s play “Smiļģis” directed by Viesturs Kairiss. The performance was created as a dedication to the centenary of the Daile Theater and the Latvian state, and its premiere at the theater will be a special event.

Eduards Smiļģis is not only the founder of Daile Theater, an innovative director, actor, but also a genius torn by contradictions. The drama in two parts tries to find out what really lies behind Smilg’s thousand masks, and what price a genius has to pay for the ability to play theater, hurt and love beyond the limits of the average person.
The director of the show Viesturs Kairišs has united scenographer Ieva Jurjānis, costume designer Ilze Vītoliņš, lighting artist Oskars Pauliņš and choreographer Jan Jacuk.
