The platform on the Rhine in Rheinfelden, Switzerland, is a long time coming – Rheinfelden / Switzerland

Enjoy the view and indulge in history – this should be possible on the viewing platform at the Rheinlust in Rheinfelden Switzerland. But the project is stalling. The building permit is still missing.

Enjoy the view and indulge in history – this should be possible on the viewing platform at the Rheinlust in Rheinfelden Switzerland. The city and IG Pro Steg want to commemorate the pioneers of the hydropower plant where the Eisensteg used to connect the two Rheinfelden.

The engineers Charles Brown and Agostino Nizzola wrote electricity history in Rheinfelden at the beginning of the 20th century. This platform is intended to be recognized. The project, which should actually have been implemented last year, needs a lot of patience.

Financing has long been clarified

Last spring, the building application was open to the public, but there were two objections: a collective objection from ten residents and an objection from an environmental association. “The objection negotiations have taken place. The exchange on a possible agreement is still in progress and the building application has therefore not yet been approved,” explains city clerk Roger Erdin on request. “At the moment we are assuming that the building permit will be granted by spring and that the platform can be implemented this year,” says Erdin.

The costs for the so-called Brown-Nizzola viewing platform are said to amount to around 230,000 francs. The Rheinfeld community assembly approved a loan in the amount of 160,000 francs in 2017. IG Pro Steg organized a further 70,000 francs in sponsorship funds. The financing would have been clarified a long time ago.
