“We thought about it and consulted a lot before accepting, confides Bruno Justes. For the National 2, you need a certified training center, from the cadets. We knew it and we had started working on it. You need an administrative manager, a sports manager, a pedagogical manager and a physical trainer. We have the necessary skills in the club. »

The first good news, which occurred a few days earlier, concerns the rugby school. The Angloy club received the trophy for the best rugby school in 64 from the New Aquitaine rugby league. This prize was awarded on Wednesday April 27, at the Girouette stadium, by Michel Macary, president of the league, in the presence of the former Agenais international Philippe Sella, sponsor of this trophy with his association The Children of the Oval.

From school to first team

“Like all sports clubs, we had two difficult years in 2020 and 2021. Our educators have found solutions. We went from 116 graduates to 155 at the start of the 2021-2022 season. That is more than 30% more,” says Bruno Justes about the school’s workforce.

“It was complicated, confirms Michel Villenave, sports manager of the rugby school. The children were not allowed to touch each other. We provided individual water bottles, the educators wore masks. None of our 22 educators, including eight graduates, has given up. »

This argument counted for the league, like the fact that Jordan Dartigues, Ladislas Kasprowicz, Maxime Egurrola, Maxime Crassus, Mathias Villenave, Victor Hannoun and Iban Tsouladze, all trained at Weathervane, as well as Antonin Gilibert, Julien Maamaatuaiahutapu, Sam Cahuzac, Jules Olivier and Thomas Pulon, who arrived at the AORC in the youth teams, are now playing in the first team.

From 3 years old

One of the strengths of the Angloy club rugby school is to welcome children from the age of 3. “In the 3/6 year old category, we split by age category, explains Michel Villenave. With children aged 3 and 4, we mainly work on motor skills through small games. It is only from the age of 5 that children begin to belt themselves. »

All this reinforces the co-president of the AORC and the head of the rugby school in their desire not to separate the different levels. “There are of course people to take care specifically of the school, but we only form one club”, says Bruno Justes.
