Folk festival in Holmenkollen – attracts with TikTok star
HOLMEN COLLEGE. With the help of a TikTok star and alcohol-free zones, the organizer must avoid a drunken scandal in Holmenkollen.
The Swedish riders are still counting full drag along the tracks.
– There will probably be one or two Norwegians who have absorbed a few units, says Jens Burman.
The five-mile in Holmenkollen, the men’s on Saturday and the women’s on Sunday, usually involves large crowd parties.
In the last three years, this has not been the case when the World Cup competition was affected by the corona pandemic.
11,000 spectators
But for the first time since 2019, large audiences are once again waiting at the historic ski stadium just outside Oslo.
Just over 11,000 are currently sold inside the stadium.
However, there is some concern that the party will degenerate into drunken chaos.
– There will probably be one or two Norwegians there who have absorbed a few units and are holding the positions. It will probably be lively out there, says Jens Burman.
“Don’t hear yourself breathe”
Over the years, Burman has run four five-mile races in Holmenkollen. Fredrik Andersson went in 2019 and testifies that it was noisy in the tracks even then.
– There were a lot of people then. I remember when you started to approach the top and I thought is this what it’s like to be a fireman and a smoke diver? It’s a lot of pressure, you can’t hear yourself breathing even though you’re approaching maximum heart rate and ventilating fully, he says.
TikTok star
In 2018, a total of eight people were injured and the following year was also chaotic. It is mainly out in the forest that the big challenges have appeared in previous years.
Above all, incidents with young people who have consumed alcohol in the forest have been reported.
To avoid that this year, Holmenkollen is attracting Norwegian artist and TikTok star Daniel Mokel.
– For the first time this year, we have an event inside the arena that is aimed at young people, so that they can experience partying and fun with various TikTok stars, but in a safe and drug-free way, says Stefan Marx, general of the Holmenkollen ski festival, to TV 2.
In addition, there will be zones along the course that do not allow alcohol.
– It feels safe that they try to take us into account in that way. The organizer is very responsive, says Gustaf Berglund.
