In total, 706 students from 42 schools in Latvia, including several schools in Cēsi district, participated in the three stages of the winter school championship.

The competition took place in three different locations, each with different distances and tasks for the participants. The second stage took place at the Cēsis Olympic Skiing and Biathlon Center, where the skiers competed in the classics, and in the final stage in Sigulda, they had to perform an obstacle course.

In all three stages, skiers fought for points in the overall ranking in the school competition, and as a result, Madona State Gymnasium won the victory and the championship’s main prize of 1,500 euros for the purchase of equipment from “Fischer Latvia”. Madonas City Secondary School and Lejasciemas Elementary School are also in the top three.

In the competition of 42 schools, among the schools of Cēsu district, the team of Cēsu 1st primary school is the highest, which ranked 12th. Vecpiebalga Secondary School in 15th place, Cēsu City Secondary School in 16th. Skiers from Cēsu 2nd Primary School, Priekuļi Secondary School, Spāre Primary School, Cēsu State Gymnasium, Dzerbene General Education and Arts Primary School also competed in one of the stages.

In the individual standings, none of the young skiers from Cēsis region made it into the top three, because they participated in only one or two stages, and no matter how good the results were, it was not enough to take a high place in the standings.
