Ten years ago, the Czech Republic was hit by the news that Iveta Bartošová (†48) had tragically died. The singer decided to leave the world voluntarily and jumped under a train in Uhříněvs, where she lived. Her husband Josef Rychtář (66) also remembered the sad anniversary on the spot, who could not handle the onslaught of emotions.
The place where the accident happened is commemorated by two monuments near the dormitories. One with a heart and a wooden cross, which was set up by Bartoš’s widower, the other, a metal one with a gilded Christ, appeared near the dormitories over the years. Both have fresh flowers, figurines and candles.
The magistrate was not absent at the place of Iveta’s death even on the anniversary, when he came with a bouquet. He spent a long time at the metal cross, where he brought a bouquet of white roses. He only unwrapped them from the paper packaging shortly before 11:27, which is the exact time of Iveta’s tragic death. Shortly before, the widower had pulled off a scene unworthy of a sad jubilee piety.
He refused the request that he could briefly remember his beloved wife. “No, I won’t comment on anything. It’s my decision and I have the right to it,” said the sullen widower, scolding the journalists. Even with a long lapse of time, he performed the scene as if it had been cut from the days when he chased Zdenek Macura, Domenico Martucci and the “kidnapped” Iveta in Italy. He did not forget to mention the journalists who, according to his own words, hurt him the most.
After the incriminated train left, he went to the cemetery to the grave of Bartošová in Říčany. There he wrestled for a while with a watering can to water the living flowers. The place of worship is decorated with many statues, mainly angels, and red and white roses.
