Google plans to ditch Samsung and switch to TSMC processors for its future Tensor chips. This decision is due to the fact that previous chips created with the help of Samsung suffered from performance and heat dissipation problems.
This is what we know
The new Tensor G5 chip to be used in the Pixel 10 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm N3E process, similar to that used in the iPhone 16 Pro. This promises a significant improvement in efficiency and performance over previous models.
Google also plans to launch the Tensor G6 chip in 2026, which will be manufactured using TSMC’s new N3P process. This process will also be used in Apple’s upcoming A19 chips. The improvements include a 5% increase in frequency and a 7% reduction in power consumption, making the chips more powerful and efficient.
These changes show Google’s serious intention to improve its Tensor chips and make them competitive in the market.
