The pitfalls that lie in wait for people in connection with expensive energies are far from over. They should be especially careful when signing contracts.
Energy prices were a hot topic especially in autumn and winter. Not only due to expensive gas, they shot up to an unprecedented high, and the price ceiling set by the government also had to help people. However, prices are gradually falling now and a number of suppliers are competing to offer customers a better deal, writes the website o Energetic. However, people should be very careful when setting up energy contracts.
The problems for many people do not end
For many people, with the arrival of summer, it may seem that the problem is now gone. But they should definitely not succumb to this false impression. It is enough if one sentence is wrong in the contract and people are already married. As Události247 recently wrote, for example, tens of thousands of Czechs had their tariffs fixed at last year’s expensive prices. Now they are threatened that even if the prices are already going down, they will have to pay significantly more according to the agreed fixation. Thousands of crowns will disappear like nothing.
An option to solve the situation with an unfavorable contract is its early termination. Of course, with you usually also carries a considerable penalty. In addition, this situation can also affect people who have an automatic contract extension agreed with their supplier company.
Carelessness can cost the Czech Republic dearly
According to the website iToday there is a growing number of complaints about the automatic renewal of contracts that are fixed for a certain period. As the Energy Regulatory Office (ERÚ) points out, many suppliers have the possibility enshrined in the contract that prices may increase when extended electricity and gas. The new prices are available, for example, in the new price list on the website, but not many people look there.

However, people have the option to avoid the extension. “The Energy Act does not prevent the automatic extension of fixed-term contracts in any way. However, it gives the consumer the option to refuse the extension, if they do not agree with it. However, he must do so no later than twenty days before the renewed contract would come into effect.” said Markéta Zemanová, a member of the ERÚ Council, for the iDnes website. However, due to their carelessness, many forget to do such a thing in time and then they have no choice but to pay penalties for early termination.
