The pink Bidasoa Irun shirts get 1,680 euros against cancer

The Bidasoa Sports Club has closed with satisfaction its campaign in favor of the local delegation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer. If last year those from Artaleku donated 1,428 euros with a part of the proceeds from the Champions League match against the Swedish Savehof, on this occasion 1,680 euros will be delivered, the compiled in the auction of the pink shirts with which the bidasotarras played on Saturday against the Barça.

The Bidasoa uniform is a yellow shirt and blue pants. The away kit has always been blue. And in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1996/97 season, a half yellow and half blue shirt was made and there was also a completely white elastic for a couple of matches. Those had been the only variations in nearly 60 years of history until this hit pink kit arrived.

22o euros | Julen Aginagalde’s shirt was the one that raised the bid the most, 220 euros

Behind her were those of Mikel Zabala (160), Kauldi Odriozola (146.5), Rodrigo Salinas (140) and Jon Azkue (137.5). The one that least almost doubled the starting price, which was 40 euros for all.

The idea was to play the game against Barça with her to coincide with the international day against breast cancer, but it was postponed. On Saturday the initiative was recovered and against the same rival, who curiously sometimes plays in pink, even without coinciding with the rival. Logically he could not do it this time.

On Thursday night the auction went live through eBay, with a starting price of forty euros for each of the fourteen garments, one for each player of the first team, except the goalkeepers. In the first hours of that day there were already bids, although the price rose from one euro to one euro or, at most, five euros.

High on saturday

As the auction progressed, some items began to stand out. On Friday night several had exceeded 80 euros, even 90 in one case. However, the high came on Saturday. Either because the closing time of the auction was approaching, or also because of the impulse to see them on the television broadcast, the elastic roses began to rise in price considerably, leaving the starting price far behind.

Julen Aginagalde’s went up to 220 euros, 160 that of Mikel Zabala, 146.5 that of Kauldi Odriozola, 140 that of Rodrigo Salinas and 137.5 that of Jon Azkue. The one that almost doubled the starting price the least and the average bid for the fourteen shirts was 120 euros, which is triple the initial price. All this, after almost 500 bids (34 on average per product), in just three days.

Some of the garments will not come from Irun, others will have a short route within the Basque Country and Iparralde, but a few will end up in more distant destinations such as Madrid, Vic (Barcelona) and Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara). This circumstance and the high number of interested parties are an extra joy for the Bidasoa Sports Club, which has been in fashion in recent years.

The president, Gurutz Aginagalde, emphasizes that “many people from different parts of Spain have been interested in the shirt, which is a source of pride for the club and a joy because the collection has been increasing. We did not really know how this auction could work but, after three days and seeing the repercussion and the money raised, we can say that it has been a success.

Will go on sale

Seen the pull of the garment, the club will put it on sale in the official store that has opened next to Plaza San Juan per month and a half to facilitate the work of Olentzero and the Magi. Those who did not bid or were outbid by others will now have the opportunity to get it, upon request.
