The photo project captures “pandemic wintered” cultural sites

At the same time, the feeling captured in the photos shows emptiness and creates the feeling that the venues will open their doors very soon and the events will resume.

The photographs capture venues of LPNVA members such as Music House “Daile”, Jauna Teika event and conference room “Fantadroms”, Arena Riga, cultural place “Hanzas Perons”, cultural center “Siguldas Devons”, Latgale embassy “Gors”, Liepāja Olympic Center, open-air concert hall “Mītava” and the International Exhibition Center “Ķīpsala”.

LPNVA members point out that the aim of the photo project is not only to perpetuate empty spaces, but also to realize that the event infrastructure has never been closed for so long, drawing attention to the fact that some venues have not been able to resume operations since the first emergency was announced on March 12, 2020. .

Aware of the need for cultural, recreational and sporting activities, the association calls on the responsible authorities to follow the example of other countries, actively seeking a solution for safe activities until the epidemiological situation is suitable, as well as well-defined conditions under which activities can resume.

The Latvian Association of Venues also invites other venues to join the photo project by capturing their premises and sending photos to: [email protected]. It is planned that the virtual exhibition will also be realized as a traveling photo exhibition.
