The photo from the first series of The Lord of the Rings series suggests interesting connections

The term “epic” has been used very often in connection with film or television lately, and sometimes it is not even clear what it actually means. In connection with the world The Lord of the Rings but perhaps you can’t even use another when its author JRR Tolkien is already in a children’s book The Hobbit introduced a complex mythology or battle of five armies of different creatures. The first published photo from the series also offers a spectacular view The Lord of the Rings from Amazon, set thousands of years before Peter Jackson’s films.

When the Amazon series Lord of the Rings in 2017 he announced, among the first questions was what his chances are to follow up on one of the most beloved film trilogies ever. Gradually, however, snippets of information began to appear, such as that it would not be a remake, and at least an optimistic interest was in place. The first big wave of enthusiasm was recently triggered by a single number – 465 million. So many dollars or about 10 billion crowns, ie more than three original films together, only the first series of the series is to stand.

Another wave of joy will now be evoked by the release of the premiere date and the first photo, which captures a scene from the opening episode. It has not been officially announced what exactly it depicts, but according to Tolkien’s books, earlier films and other clues, we can at least guess what. How mentions server Screenrant, the simplest would be to say that the white city dominating the image is the elven seat of Roklinka, where in Fellowship of the ring the decision was made to take the ring of power to the Mountain of Destiny in the dark land of Mordor.

But it could also be one of two locations that did not appear in previous films. The first option is the city of elves Gondolin, a hidden place surrounded by mountains and founded in the First Age of Mediterranean, a fictional world where Lord of the Rings takes place. Since the series is to be set in the next period of fantastic mythology, it would indicate a flashback or historical prologue.

The second and perhaps most probable possibility, however, is the city of Valimar in the so-called Land of the Dying, in Valinor. In the background of the published image, we seem to see the silhouettes of two huge trees flooded with light. These could be the White Tree and the Golden Tree from Tolkien’s extensive mythology. Interestingly, Valinor is not in the Mediterranean as such, but on a continent far to the west across the ocean. Serial Lord of the Rings he could thus delve really deep into the books.

No further details about the synopsis are known, except that the plot will take place thousands of years before both film trilogies, we will see in them well-known and new characters and the resurgence of evil. Its main source could be Morgoth, the divine being Sauron of The Lord of the Rings just a servant. By the way, its history is connected with the mentioned trees.

Originally, the premiere of the series, whose exact name we still do not know, was expected at the end of this year. However, filming in Auckland, New Zealand, was interrupted by a pandemic for many months shortly after the first flap fell in February last year. With the release of the photo, Amazon has only now announced that the production of the first of the upcoming five series is ready. Currently, the premiere date is set for September 2 next year with a new one out of a total of 22 episodes each week.

“As Bilbo says, ‘I think I’m quite ready now for the next trip.’ Living and breathing the Mediterranean for many months has been an adventure of a lifetime. We can’t wait for the fans to have the opportunity to experience the same, “ presented by show partners and screenwriters JD Payne and Patrick McKay.

Amazon was in charge of an unprecedented project in several respects, and given the huge budget, the first photo published, and the amount of time to complete it, he obviously trusts the creators. One of the actors in the series, Benjamin Walker, was convinced to join his cast when JD Payne called him about the casting from the hospital where his wife had just given birth.

In addition to Walker, whose role is not yet known, the series will feature, for example, the actress Morfydd Clark, known from horror. Saint maudwhich we recently recommended for viewing.
