On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Phoenix Suns won 118-105 the first game of the basketball playoff finals. Chris Paul, who at 36 is playing his first career finals despite being considered one of the strongest point guards in NBA history, had a great game: he scored 32 points with very good percentages and provided nine assists. Phoenix’s other two most important players, and much younger than Paul, also played a great game: Devin Booker scored 27 points, while DeAndre Ayton scored 22 and took 19 rebounds.
For the Bucks the best scorer was Khris Middleton, who scored 29 points, while Giannis Antetokounmpo stopped at 20, albeit with a good defensive performance (he took 17 rebounds, among other things). Antetokounmpo’s presence on the pitch tonight had remained uncertain until just before the game: he had suffered hypertension in his right knee during the playoff semifinals, missing the last two games the Bucks had played against the Atlanta Hawks. Game 2 of the NBA finals will be played on the Italian night between Thursday and Friday.
