Sarina Bolden scored the historic first goal for World Cup debutants the Philippines when she weaved her way between two opposing defenders and headed in 1-0 after 24 minutes.
Home nation New Zealand equalized after 70 minutes when Hannah Wilkinson cut deep and found Jacqui Hand with a cross.
The ball in the net but the flag in the air and the goal was ruled out after VAR review.

Completely open group
New Zealand continued to press and had another great chance when Grace Jale was cleared, but then Olivia Davies-McDaniel was on foot.
The team was able to hold on and their first WC victory means that three teams in Group A now stand on three points.
Norway – who lost the opener against New Zealand – now have the chance to bounce back when they face Switzerland.
