The Phenomenon of Pizza Trade Employees on the Side of the Road, For Money and Not Layoffs: Okezone Economy

JAKARTA – The Covid-19 pandemic created a new marketing phenomenon in the restaurant business. As employees do Pizza Hut, they peddle their stuff on the side of the road.

This step is an effort to survive in the midst of the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy. Where restaurants are prohibited from providing services dine in or eating on the spot.

One of the Pizza Hut employees, let’s say his name, Susi, revealed that selling on the side of the road has been done since the Covid-19 pandemic. This is done in order to increase sales from the company.

“We have been doing this for a long time since Covid-19 entered Indonesia and returned to PSBB. So until now we keep selling on the roadside so that sales increase,” said Susi, in Jakarta, Sunday (9/27/2020).

He said, this way of selling on the side of the road was so that employees would not be laid off or layoffs (layoffs). This is because many employees have been laid off.

“Because there are many layoffs who are sent home without being paid, so like it or not the company wants to do this so that not many are laid off because there are many employees,” he explained

He added that he was not ashamed to sell on the roadside. This is due to being able to work and get paid. Meanwhile, employees will take turns selling pizza on the roadside.

“I’m not ashamed, because we also eat so we can keep working, the important thing is lawful and sincere,” concluded Susi.
