Teddy Riner beat reigning world champion Minjong Kim of Korea by ippon in the final on Friday to become the most decorated judoka in the history of his sport.
Alone at the top of Olympus. Teddy Riner won his third individual Olympic champion title in Paris on Friday, August 2 – his fourth, including the team title in Tokyo. The Frenchman scored a spectacular ippon to knock out the reigning world champion, Minjong Kim of Korea, in the final. An unprecedented performance in the heavyweight division (+100 kg), which allows him to become the most successful judoka in the history of his sport. He also gave the French judo team its first title of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and its ninth medal.
“We may work hard, but competition days are always special. It’s something exceptional.”reacted the champion after his victory.
