The historic hotel Pez Espada, in Torremolinos, owned by Azora European Hotel & Lodging FCR and managed by Grupo Med Playa, reopened its doors on June 4 after nine months closed and after an extensive reform of the facilities that allows position the category of four stars superior.

The spaces have been endowed with a retro air with a nod to the iconic building, combining modern elements to recall the glorious 60-70 years, the time of its opening, with photographs and paintings of Hollywood film artists who at this time stayed at the hotel, like the singer and actor Frank Sinatra.
The reform has practically covered the entire hotel and has allowed increase the number of rooms to 239, with a higher proportion of junior suites (total of 39) that include exclusive concierge, reception and VIP lounge services.
The reform includes the opening of the new Restaurant Ondina on the Paseo de Torremolinos, with sea views and a new current gastronomic proposal, and the reformulation of the buffet restaurant and other food and beverage outlets, like the new food truck for pool service.
The Bar Frankis will become a first class cocktail bar with cocktails that will recall the famous Frank Sinatra movies and also An ice cream parlor will be inaugurated at the beginning of July, with service to the promenade. The meeting rooms and events area has been completely updated and the Med Playa Group hopes to turn the hotel into a reference for the organization of events.
Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2006, the Hotel Pez Espada was inaugurated in 1959. It became the first five-star luxury hotel facility on the Costa del Sol and it was an embryo for the tourist development of the area.
Hotel equipment became a resting place for artists, actors, politicians, sportsmen or royals to spend your vacations or a few days off. One of its illustrious guests was the actor Frank Sinatra who stayed in it in October 1964 during the filming of the war tape ‘Colonel Von Ryan’.
