In support of sick children
The Petit Cœur deeurre association works on a daily basis to promote the care of children with heart defects.
Aurélie Morin, correspondent for the association for Loiret, and Audrey Nickel, volunteer, have installed a hopscotch on the ground in the consultation waiting room at the Orléans hospital to occupy the children: “We also offered new toys and fun stethoscopes for staff to reduce stress for little patients and allow caregivers to entertain children. “
Help also for families
Marjolaine, Aurélie Morin’s granddaughter, has had open-heart surgery several times for a heart defect or congenital heart disease. “Now she is doing well. But it will be followed for life. I wanted to join the association because I felt very alone during this difficult period during which we do not want, for example, to hear complicated medical terms. Since then, exchanges with other families have helped me a lot and I would like to support parents in such a situation. “
Likewise, Audrey Lickel had a complicated period with the operation on her 14 month old daughter: “At that time, and during her hospitalization, the loneliness was overwhelming. I myself had been operated on for such a malformation. The association brought me moral comfort and I now want to help other mothers ”.
The association has volunteers throughout France, “to support patients of all ages and their families”.
For Jean-Charles Jandali, pediatrician at the Orléans hospital, the presence of volunteers is very important: “They have experience and can provide advice to families. ”
