The Permanent Revolution Summer University is launched!

Amidst the loud applause of the hundreds of people gathered under the marquee, the organizing team of the RP Summer University gave the starting signal for its annual summer university in the Alps on Friday evening. While the left and far left are gathering their activists and supporters all over the country, 700 people will participate in the Permanent Revolution event.

This year, priority was given to activists and sympathizers who are already organizing in the organization’s circles and open assemblies, making the event a real training and activist integration course. In this context, the main focus was on strategic discussions, feedback on the fundamentals of Marxism and their current relevance, but also on debate with contemporary critical theories.

The program includes presentations on the experiences of popular fronts in history or on trade unionism today, a training cycle on the Russian revolution or the transition program, but also debates with the works of intellectuals such as Nicos Poulantzas, Ernesto Laclau, Bernard Friot and Frédéric Lordon or with theoretical-political currents, from intersectionality to decolonialism and degrowth.

Discussions will be attended by guests such as Paul Guillibert or Yvan Lemaître of Revolutionary Democracy (NPA-R) on the occasion of exchanges on ecology and revolutionary strategy or the policy to adopt in the period. Various foreign delegations will also be there, South Korean activists from March to socialism to US activists Left Voiceto return to the major international trends.

While the Révolution Permanente back-to-school meeting will be held from the Alps this Sunday, August 25, the Summer University will be an opportunity to take an in-depth look at the political assessments of the past year and the challenges of the new school year, faced with an authoritarian power and the impasse of the perspectives proposed by the NFP. A dense program for the Summer University that has once again been full of activists eager to train and contribute to the reconstruction of a revolutionary left in France this year.
