The Perfect Picture: Loes’ Emotional and Impactful Winning Photo

Note, this article contains spoilers.

This time the six remaining photographers are gathering in The Hague. There they will be explained their assignment, which they will have to give their own creative interpretation to. “Partygoers who drank a little too deeply,” presenter Tijl Beckand explains to the group. The photographers have to take a raw image of the morning after after a rough night.

Loes won the previous shoot and chooses to work with drag queen Stevie. She is really looking forward to that, but she also wants to make a statement with her photo: “I recently read in the news that a drag queen had been beaten up and that quite a lot of violence was actually used.” As a result, there is quite a bit of fear among drag queens and they do not dare to walk across the street in full regalia.

To make the photo as realistic as possible, Stevie has to take off her wig and her make-up is wiped off on all sides: “Suddenly you see a vulnerable person.” And that makes her realize even more how important it is to take this photo: “I’m just crying in this program. It affects me enormously,” says Loes, crying in front of the cameras of The Perfect Picture.

The subject affects Loes so much because her own drag friends have also been threatened: “I think that is so bad. If a person or animal is extremely vulnerable, other people take advantage of that. It is so unfair. It is so not necessary. (.. .) You have no right to beat up anyone else.”

Drag queen Stevie gives everything during the special shoot: “I think you’re doing really great,” says Loes with a lump in her throat. Soon the time is up and she takes stock: “Then I hope I have taken a photo with the impact I want it to have.”

He certainly has that, because the jury is extremely impressed by the picture: “I think it’s fantastic,” says Cynthia Boll. Loes’ photo is awarded an 8.5, making her this week’s winner.

The Perfect Picture see you every Wednesday at 8:30 PM on RTL 4.

So Loes has moved on to the next round, but for Waldemar Torenstra the adventure has come to an end. He looks back on it in The Audience Award The Perfect Pictureadventure and the actor gets one last chance to show that he is the best photographer of this season. You can see it in the video below.
