Today, candidate Maria (29) cooks for her guests. The project manager is half Greek and she wants to incorporate her roots into the menu for the “perfect dinner”.
Maria is well versed, she even made a schedule for preparing her menu. Yesterday she made the lamb gravy for the main course. A total of five bottles of red wine end up in the sauce, which is repeatedly reduced. Maria begins her preparations with bread as an appetizer. It’s called “Grandfather’s Franconian Horseradish Says Goodbye to the Mediterranean” and consists of horseradish cream with beetroot and prawns.
Greek specialties
The main course is roasted lamb with root vegetables and for dessert there is a typical Greek bougatsa. Phyllo dough is especially common in northern Greece and is meant to give Maria’s guests that Greek holiday feel tonight. “He has liquid blood for me”
Maria arranges her bougatsa on a fruit plate made up of cooked blueberries. She comes up with something: “Anja will like it. It looks like blood. Anja absolutely loves reading mysteries, and those that make blood flow from the pages.” Maria’s association does not go unnoticed at the guest table. “I like it, then of course I’m looking forward to dessert twice as much. She has some liquid blood on her plate for me,” Anja explains to the others.
At first they don’t know what that means. “What then?
