People’s Artist is the youngest Deputy Director in the history of Vietnam National Academy of Music

People’s Artist Bui Cong Duy was born in 1981 in Hanoi in a family with an artistic tradition. His father is Professor Bui Cong Thanh, his mother is pianist Thu Lan.

At the age of 4, Bui Cong Duy learned to play the violin under the guidance of his famous father. 6 years later, he and his family went to Russia and began studying with famous professors in the birch land. In 1998, he continued his university studies and postgraduate studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Russian Federation).

From a very young age, Bui Cong Duy proved his exceptional talent. He won the First Prize and the Gold Medal at the 3rd International Tchaikovsky Music Competition for young artists in 1997 in Saint-Peterbourg.

In 2014, Bui Cong Duy became the first Vietnamese violinist to perform solo with the Berliner Symphoniker Orchestra at Europe’s most prestigious concert hall named Herbert von Karajan. During his musical career, the male artist has traveled in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Macedonia, Poland, England, Croatia, Russia, Denmark, Norway, in Malaysia, the Philippines, China, Japan, Korea.

Since 2017, he has been the Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, specializing in performance activities. He is also the youngest Assistant Director in the nearly 70-year history of this school.

Besides being a famous violinist, Bui Cong Duy is also famous for his role as King Bao Dai in the movie The battleship exploded. This is a historical drama adapted by Colonel – writer Nguyen Xuan Hai from the famous late 80’s intelligence novel by writer Le Tri Ky (The Politicians Club), directed by artist Khuong Duc Thuan and Tran Chi Thanh and the director.

In 2023, artist Bui Cong Duy was awarded the title of People’s Artist by the State.
