On the 14th, the People Power Party criticized the summit meeting between North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling it “a serious challenge that threatens not only peace in Northeast Asia but also world peace.” He also criticized the Democratic Party, saying they are only focused on protecting Representative Lee Jae-myung and not paying any attention to the situation in Northeast Asia.

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly this morning, Representative Kim Ki-hyun said, “Criticism from around the world is pouring in on the behavior of two leaders who are considered the most dangerous figures in the international community, who are openly committing a devil’s bargain.”

He pointed out, “Trading weapons technology with North Korea is a direct violation of the UN Security Council resolution against North Korea, and is an action that cannot be condoned as it violates the resolution in which Russia, a permanent member of the Security Council, participated.”

Representative Kim said, “We urge Russia to immediately stop arms trade with North Korea,” and added, “As a permanent member of the Security Council, we strictly and strongly demand that it act more responsibly.”

Floor leader Yoon Jae-ok said, “Even before the North Korea-Russia meeting, the international community had been concerned that Russia, which was isolated due to the invasion of Ukraine, would receive urgent supplies of conventional weapons and artillery shells from North Korea in return for asymmetric power technology or energy such as reconnaissance satellites, ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles), and nuclear submarines. “Concerns have been raised that resources will be provided to North Korea,” he said.

He expressed concern that “if this bad deal goes through, it could lead to Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, denying sanctions against North Korea and neutralizing the minimum means of control over North Korea.”

Floor Leader Yoon pointed out, “If Russia were to contribute to North Korea’s satellite development through this summit, it would be a very serious threat to our security in that it would lead to improvements in North Korea’s missile performance.”

He continued, “Even though the situation in Northeast Asia is so urgent, the Democratic Party, a huge opposition party, is only focused on protecting Representative Lee Jae-myung, who is fasting due to various judicial risks.” He added, “In a situation where a new Cold War is mentioned after the Ukraine incident, Lee Jae-myeong’s bulletproofing is a priority over the lives and safety of the people.” “It can’t be done,” he said.

Supreme Council member Kim Byeong-min said, “Instead of criticizing North Korea and Russia, the main opposition party of the Republic of Korea turned its arrow towards President Yoon Seok-yeol,” and added, “Kim Jong-un’s remarks, which defined Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a sacred struggle to punish the gathering of evil, were criticized by Democratic Party officials. “They can’t hear it or see it,” he criticized.

Supreme Council member Kim said, “Democratic Party Spokesperson Kwon Chil-seung said that the number one contributor to the North Korea-Russia meeting was President Yoon Seok-yeol,” and added, “The foreign policy of the Yoon Seok-yeol government, which solidified solidarity with the liberal democratic camp, led to military cooperation between North Korea and Russia.” “It is unfolding,” he criticized.
