The Pentagon: We have not been subjected to attacks in Syria and Iraq since the beginning of the Gaza truce

The Pentagon announced the cessation of almost daily attacks against American forces in Iraq and Syria since the truce between Israel and Hamas entered into force 5 days ago.

American forces in the two countries have been targeted by missiles and drones more than 70 times since mid-October.

Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said, “American forces in Iraq and Syria have not been subjected to any attack since November 23, that is, since the temporary truce between Israel and Hamas in Gaza came into force.”

The attacks resulted in the injury of dozens of American personnel in Iraq and Syria, but they have all returned to service since then.

The devastating Israeli ground and air bombardment on the Gaza Strip led to the death of more than 15,000 people, most of them children and women, according to the Hamas government in the Strip.

The high death toll sparked widespread anger in the Middle East and provided an incentive for armed groups hostile to the United States and Israel to launch attacks against American forces in the region.

On November 24, a 4-day truce was reached under Qatari mediation, under which detainees held by Hamas were released in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.

The truce was extended for two days, noting that mediators are making efforts to establish a sustainable truce in the war between Israel and Hamas.
