The Pentagon Considers All Options for the Release of American Hostages Held by Hamas

A senior Pentagon official told Sky News Arabia on Tuesday that he does not rule out “any scenario” for the release of American hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The official, who requested to remain anonymous, explained that “the Hamas terrorist movement killed 11 Americans in cold blood, took Americans hostage, and threatened to execute them,” adding, “Therefore, we do not rule out any scenario for carrying out operations with high risks to save our citizens.”

The official added, “The United States takes very seriously the safety and security of its citizens,” adding that “the Pentagon, specifically the Chief of Staff, holds open and continuous meetings with the Israeli Ministry of Defense to discuss options and plans through which the hostages can be released and the Israeli people protected from any terrorist threat.” His expression.

According to his information, which he said was not final, about 150 Israeli and American hostages are being held by terrorists in Gaza, and that the American government and its various agencies, including Special Operations Command – SOCOM, are currently coordinating with the Israeli army leadership to find a solution to the hostage crisis.

The official explained that the American C-17 and C-5 military transport planes that arrived in Israel carried American special forces, a large part of which specialized in hostage-liberation operations.

On the other hand, a US Department of Defense official expressed concern in the Pentagon “about Hezbollah’s activity, and any wrong decision it might take to open a second front will have its consequences.”

On the other hand, the official warned Hezbollah against interfering in the ongoing round of fighting, saying, “Hezbollah should not test Washington’s desire and commitment to support and defend Israel.”

The American official stated, “One of the reasons that will push the Pentagon to increase the size of its forces in the Middle East, specifically in its waters off the shores of Lebanon and Syria, is that Iranian-backed terrorist groups such as Hezbollah could expand the circle of conflict.”
