The Pittsburgh Penguins, represented by Latvian striker Teodors Blugers, have signed probation contracts with two players – US national team captain Brian Boil and defender Met Bartkovsky. Both hockey players will take part in the club’s pre-season training camp.
The Penguins have signed forward Brian Boyle and defenseman Matt Bartkowski to professional tryout contracts.
Boyle and Bartkowski will attend training camp on PTOs. The training camp schedule will be announced at a later date.

The 36-year-old Boil missed last NHL season, but represented the US national team at the 2021 World Cup in Riga. The striker went on the field in ten matches, scoring 3 (2 + 1) points and helping the US state to win bronze medals.
Boyle’s last club was the Florida Panthers, represented by an NHL veteran in the 2019/2020 season, with six goals and nine assists in 39 games. In his career, the attacker has played 805 regular championship matches, in which he scored 231 (130 + 101) performance points, but in 118 playoff tournaments he added another 31 (16 + 15) points to his account.
The Penguins have also been added to the probationary period by 33-year-old defender Bartkovskis, who played one game in Minnesota’s Wild last season. The hockey player spent most of the season in the American Hockey League (AHL) team in Iowa “Wild”, where he scored 8 (1 + 7) points in 23 games. In his career, the defender has a total of eight goals and 40 assists in 256 games in the NHL.
