Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Bogor Peak HighwayWest Java experienced congestion severe conditions around Gunungmas and Riung Gunung, Sunday (31/7) this afternoon. The video of the severe traffic jam has gone viral on social media.

Police said the congestion occurred due to an increase in the volume of vehicles since Friday and Saturday. Today the police are implementing a one-way route to Jakarta, but they are unable to fully unravel the congestion.

Head of the Turjawali Satlantas Polres Bogor Ipda Ardian Novian said congestion in the Gunungmas area during the implementation of the one-way system or one way to Jakarta was triggered by road narrowing or bottlenecks around Cisarua after Gunungmas, Puncak, Bogor.

“So the problem of congestion is the one-way flow, all vehicles go down (towards Jakarta), then meet a bottleneck. After Cisarua Market the flow is good, quite heavy to the bottom,” said Ardian when confirmed via telephone.

“(Congestion due to) there is a bottleneck in Gunungmas, if you describe it, the lane in Gunungmas is 18 meters and can be used for 4 lanes of vehicles, but then down around the Ciliwung bridge there is a narrowing of the road, which used to be for 4 lanes, it was reduced to 2 lanes. Yes, the impact is like that (congestion),” he added.

The narrowing of the road after Gunungmas caused a queue of vehicles up to the Cisarua Market Junction which was 6 kilometers long.

The flow of vehicles returned to normal after Cisarua Market headed for Simpang Gadog. However, traffic jams again at several intersection points leading up to Simpang Gadog.

The one-way or one-way system on Jalan Raya Puncak for vehicles headed for Jakarta is estimated to still be implemented until 20.30 WIB. Given the flow of vehicles to Jakarta is still monitored solid.
