Santa Monica talks openly about what they learned from the PC ported version of God of War.
This week on the awesome God of War PC also went great – we straight out we found it dizzyingly good. The Santa Monica title debuted on Steam in native 4K resolution and with improved graphics, allowing PC gamers to try out the Northern Experience, which only PlayStation users have so far enjoyed.
But no matter how good it is, it’s not the biggest release of the franchise planned for this year. In 2022, God of War: Ragnarok, the continuation of the first part we are also discussing, will arrive, the development of which seems to have been well influenced by the PC port, as the California-owned studio in Sony openly notes.
Santa Monica’s director of user experience and accessibility, Mila Pavlin, said the Ragnarok will correct some of the playability aspects of the saga, thanks to what was built into the PC version of the originally released 2018 title. Thanks to the development, new ways have been discovered to make the title accessible, offering players more options and options to customize the experience.
“That laid the foundation for Ragnarok” – Mila Pavlin, Santa Monica
“It laid the groundwork” He told the PC Gamer. “Many accessibility features require us to change our approach to content creation. The PC port allowed us to go back and review how we built some of the source code. ” Mila gives a good example of this, highlighting the auto-run feature introduced on the PC, which does not require you to press the key in question. “This button is a bit difficult for many players to use” – explains, referring to the L3 button on the PlayStation controllers.
So Ragnarok is expected to be much more comfortable to control than the first part of the reboot of Kratos and Atreus. There is no confirmed specific date for the continuation beyond 2022 yet, although a leaked crumb of information hinted at the second half of the year.
