A patient in New Zealand have sex with a visitor in the hospital treatment room. The action was revealed when another patient accidentally saw the two behind the curtain of the hospital room.
Therefore, the patient who saw the incident, namely Kevin, reported the incident to the hospital staff.
“At five, this young lady walked in and disappeared behind the curtain and it was pretty clear what was going on there,” Kevin said.
“There were four people in the hospital treatment room and it was all a bit of a shock, all very embarrassing,” he continued.
Once caught, the patient who had intercourse had asked Kevin not to complain about his actions.
“But I’m worried if I don’t report it, because of the transmission COVID-19 was widespread, so I immediately complained to the hospital staff,” Kevin said.
The New Zealand Nurses Organization (NZNO) was also concerned, and has since asked for WorkSafe’s help. Not only that, Kevin is also worried because there are no restrictions on visitors to Auckland Hospital, New Zealand. For just three days, he estimates that there will be around 60 people visiting
“Right now it’s important that we limit visits. Too many people going in and out are risking patient safety and jeopardizing the safety of our nursing staff,” said Kate Weston of NZNO.
The Ministry of Health on Thursday released revised visitor guidelines for DHB nationwide that were updated to prevent the Delta variant of COVID-19 from spreading.
“That work is being completed today so there will be updated guidance,” Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield told reporters during a Covid-19 briefing Thursday afternoon.
A confused Jacinda Ardern was asked about the incident, responding.
“I would say generally, regardless of the Covid status, that sort of thing ([seks antara pengunjung dan pasien) seharusnya tidak menjadi bagian dari jam kunjungan, saya pikir,” katanya.
