On September 19, 1981, around 9.15 p.m. in the peaceful Bernut du Mont Dore subdivision: a gunshot rings out! A man has just been killed. It is Pierre Declercq, secretary general of the Union Calédonienne and spokesperson for the Front Indépendantiste. Unanimous condemnation of an assassination that some believe, motivated by politics. The separatists then mobilized for this “white martyr”.
A suspect will be charged and imprisoned four days later before being released and compensated in July 1982 then amnestied in January 1990. This assassination will, for many historians, open the troubled period of the “events” of the 80s. Despite several years of investigation, justice will never shed light on this case. 40 years later, Antoine Le Tenneur and Joakim Arlaud, return with unpublished archives on the career of Pierre Declercq and on this assassination never elucidated.
