The path around Kinneret – Jewish Traveler and we will lead you to peace

With the arrival of thousands of evacuees from the north and south for an extended stay in hotels, guesthouses and hostels around the Sea of Galilee, and in view of the importance of rest and refreshment activities, the Association of Kinneret Cities recommends, for the evacuees in particular, and nature lovers in general, a family excursion on the ‘Kinneret Circular Trail’, along a stretch of A magical beach in the north of the national lake, where the ‘hidden waterfall’ created by an overflowing artesian well and a spectacular view of the Sea of Galilee is located.

Description of the route: start near Caper Nahum beach and go west between the Sea of Galilee and the mango and olive groves. After about 1,000 meters you reach a basalt building without a roof and continue walking along the path that leads to a peninsula with a spectacular view of the Kinneret. You walk to the side of the olive grove and at the end of it you can already hear the rush of water falling in the ‘hidden waterfall’ directly to the Kinneret, you reach Ein Ayyob and the hidden waterfall and enjoy a breathtaking view and view. The overflowing waterfall is the result of drilling by Tel Aviv from the 1960s, as part of the efforts of the national carrier to prevent the emergence of the salty springs in the Sea of Galilee. The well is artesian, that is: it bursts on its own under the pressure of the water, without a pump. Since it was discovered that the water has a low salinity, it flows freely to the Kinneret.

From the shore of the Kinneret, steps go up to road 87. On the way up to the road, you notice on the left a round building, ‘Beer Ayov’. This is actually a raised pool that was built above Ein Ayyub. The spring flowing between the walls of the pool fills it and allows irrigation of nearby fields. At the end of the stairs, turn left and walk another 200 meters to the parking lot at the entrance to the Flegerhaus, where the car will be waiting if you have parked, and if not, from the waterfall return back to the beginning of the route.

Route length: 2 km. Difficulty level: medium, for hikers.

The ‘Circling Kinneret Path’ is one of the central projects of the Kinneret Cities Association, the path embraces the Kinneret, is about 65 kilometers long, encompassing 85% of the Kinneret’s shores and allows free passage to the beaches via a comfortable and accessible promenade path, for free walking, on a marked path, with Beautiful hidden views and corners.

How to get there? Park the car at the Kfar Nahum beach parking lot 3.5 km from the Kfar Nahum junction to the east, the end point in Ein Ayyub. It is recommended to organize a pick-up vehicle to wait in the parking lot at the entrance to the Pilgrim House.
