The updated version of The Witcher 3 does not work correctly on PC and consoles at times. CD Projekt RED tried to release patches, but players kept complaining.
В Digital Foundry decided to study recent patch 4.01 for The Witcher 3. We found not only bad, but also something good, for example, the game stopped crashing on PS5 and Xbox Series.
In The Witcher 3 mode on PS5 and Xbox Series with ray tracing, FPS grew by 3-4 (seems to have sacrificed RTGI quality; global illumination with ray tracing).
Something has happened to the FPS in Performance mode: the frame rate has dropped on PS5 and Xbox Series. In many places where the game was 60 FPS, now the counter shows numbers in the region of 50 FPS. In this case, the visual effects look the same.
On PS5 in Novigrad, The Witcher 3 works almost as before, but outside the city problems begin, for example, FPS can drop by 10.
On PC, The Witcher 3’s shader compilation issue is still unresolved, and a significant portion of the old issues persist. But they added the RTGI speed mode, which should increase the FPS. Also on the PC, the load on the processor was reduced.
