‘Ser Esencial’ is a testimonial documentary series that portrays specific moments of a person or a group that experiences certain problems in popular neighborhoods.
Starting this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. (Argentine time), you will be able to see the second season of Ser Esencial, which consists of 13 chapters. The production was in charge of Pastoral Villera, and was made especially for Public Television.
The idea for this documentary was born to reflect the protagonism of the emergency population in times of pandemic due to COVID-19 and vaccination. This second season was filmed in its entirety during this year.
The stories, in the neighborhood
The stories are narrated by the same protagonists, the most humble who intertwine and reconvert their deficiencies in solidarity and their anguish in hope: the volunteers of the dining rooms, the religious men and women, the laity, the village priests, the health agents, young people in Recovery. Stories of those who give their all, of struggles, of losses, of works that suffer, but continue and are still present.

The setting for this documentary is the same places where people live and interact with each other: homes for grandparents, the street itself, residences for the disabled, the parish, addiction recovery centers and farms, educational institutions, health units, spaces for culture and art, the radio, among others.
The realization
The program was an idea of Walter Peña, as well as the hyphens. It has the content advice of the Father José María Di Paola and the address of Nicolas Cuiñas. The actor Diego Alonso is in charge of delving into life stories and the places where the ‘Essential Being’ is being coined.
It is a series that includes and integrates. And during this second year of the pandemic, he will teach us how vaccination gives us a new normal in life.
The new normal that the vaccine brings will make us understand the importance of caring and taking care of yourself, always and everywhere. In the first chapter of this season we will meet Matute, with his positive leadership and his death by Covid as recent as unforeseen.
