“The Passion” returns – live from Kassel in 2024 | Jesus.de

The television station RTL will broadcast the live music event “Die Passion” again in 2024 – this time from Kassel. Actor Hannes Jaenicke takes on the role of narrator.

More than three million viewers watched the live event “Die Passion” on RTL in 2022. Now the television station has communicated: There will be a new edition in 2024. This should not take place in Essen as in 2022, but in Kassel. We are also looking forward to an “XXL music event under the sign of solidarity and charity,” says RTL program manager Inga Leschek.

The TV station has already revealed the first details regarding the cast. Actor Hannes Jaenicke takes on the role of narrator from Thomas Gottschalk. “In times of increasing historical amnesia, lack of education and the fact that a strong gift culture seems to predominate at festivals such as Christmas and Easter, I think it is important to occasionally remember the foundations of our Christian-Jewish history,” says Jaenicke.

Actor cast is still open

RTL has not yet announced which actors will appear in the play. In 2022, DSDS winner Alexander Klaws (Jesus), singer Laith al Deen (Petrus), Samuel Koch and Thomas Enns, among others, took part. Other roles were played by Mark Keller (“The Mountain Doctor”), singer EllaFIN, Martin Semmelrogge (“Das Boot”), singer Gil Ofarim, trumpeter Stefan Mross, presenter Mareille Höppner, Ingolf Lück and the former football manager Rainer Calmund.

In the Netherlands, “The Passion” has been one of the most successful live TV events at Easter for over 13 years. RTL staged the modern production of the Passion of Christ for the first time in Germany in 2022.
