The Passing of Sudanese Artist Mohamed Al-Amin: A Loss to Contemporary Sudanese Art

The great Sudanese artist Mohamed Al-Amin died in the early hours of Monday at the age of 80 in a hospital in the United States of America.

According to the follow-ups of the editor of the Al-Nilein website, the Sudanese Embassy in Washington mourned that Muhammad Al-Amin responded to the call of his Lord on Sunday evening, November 12, 2023, in the United States of America.

The artist Muhammad Al-Amin, nicknamed Al-Bashkatib, and whose full name is Muhammad Al-Amin Hamad Al-Nil, is a Sudanese musician and singer, born on February 20, 1943, and one of the most important pillars of contemporary Sudanese art. He contributed to the development of Sudanese music and its dissemination outside Sudan.

According to the observations of the editor of the Al-Nilein website, the artist, whom his fans call Bud Al-Amin, grew up in the city of Wad Medani in the state of Al-Jazira. He loved music because of his uncle, Professor Balla Youssef Al-Azraq, and then he learned to play the oboe and the oud at the age of 12 years.

He studied in Wad Medani schools, and was taught by Professor Muhammad Fadl, who loves music and is good at playing the oud. He taught him how to play, but he did not complete his playing career.
